Hoh Rain Forest
These pictures mark a shift in Mitch Epstein’s landscape work. Having previously photographed nature for the most part in relation to society (American Power, New York Arbor, Rocks and Clouds), Epstein focuses on the Hoh forest’s pristine, nonhuman environment. Infused with quiet rapture, these photographs evoke the forest’s delicacy and primeval energy.
